Colocation provider InfoRelay Online Systems announced last week it has expanded its network infrastructure in the Chicago data center ORD1 to meet the growing customer demand.
The move follows InfoRelay Online Systems? recent accolade in making the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing US companies for 2011.
The company?s customer base is predominately made up of mid-western financial services firms and tech companies seeking high-security, high-bandwidth network services, such as Metro Ethernet, colocation, off-site backup and dedicated servers.
The move comes a little over a year after InfoRelay Online Systems announced it would be relocating its headquarters from its current location of Sterling, Virginia to a larger office in Herndon, Virginia.
InfoRelay?s ORD1 Data Center is centrally located in downtown Chicago in the Telegraph Building.?With more than 180,000 square feet of space, ORD1 is prepared for the expected demand. The facility currently supports more than 80 networks, as well as more than 35 Internet carriers.
In the press release, InfoRelay said that ORD1 serves financial trading companies operating at the Chicago Board of Trade, located just adjacent to ORD1, that require high bandwidth, low-latency, redundant network connectivity.
InfoRelay said it will also be providing direct Metro Ethernet connectivity options for businesses in Chicago and the surrounding areas.
These offices will help them to connect to the Internet or their colocated equipment at 100Mbps, 1,000Mbps, or 10,000Mbps.
?InfoRelay has a lot of experience in developing redundant systems,? said Josh Abraham, director of technical operations at InfoRelay. ?We work diligently to protect our customers from natural disasters and utility problems through this redundancy. Our aggregate network capacity is over 200 gigabits per second powered by 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit links.? Within InfoRelay?s ORD1 facility, businesses in and around downtown Chicago have immediate access to over 80 available networks within the data center.?
Including ORD1, InfoRelay currently has 18 data centers located across the United States, including in Washington DC, Ashburn, Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, New York and San Jose.
